John Ikeda, O.D.
Dr. John Ikeda is a graduate of Western University Health Sciences College of Optometry. He graduated with honors and as a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa optometric honor society. Dr. John received two awards from the National Boards of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO) for achieving the highest score on Part 1 and Part 2 of any individual at his school.
Dr. Ikeda completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Berkeley, graduating with honors. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and California Optometric Association. He is Board certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease and in therapeutic pharmaceutical agents.
He is excited to work with his father, Dr. Osamu Ikeda, to continue giving quality eyecare to all his patients.
John Nishimoto, OD, MBA
Dr. John Nishimoto received a Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry in 1987. In 1988, he completed a one-year residency in Hospital Based Geriatric Optometry at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center. Dr. Nishimoto is currently a Professor and Vice President of Interprofessional Affairs at the Southern California College of Optometry (SCCO). In 1997, he received a Health Care Executive Masters in Business Administration from the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Nishimoto has been a frequent contributor of articles and lectured on topics especially related to primary care and ocular disease. He is the co-author of the text "Differential Diagnosis in Primary Eye Care." Dr. Nishimoto is also currently a clinical faculty member in primary care and ocular disease at the Eye Care Center.
Dr. Nishimoto is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and served as Chair of the Section on Ocular Disease.
Osamu Ikeda, OD (Ret.)
Dr. Osamu Ikeda started Ikeda Optometry at its inception in 1981 and has been at its current location in Buena Park since 1986. Dr. Ikeda is a graduate of University of California Berkeley School of Optometry and has been an optometrist in private practice for over 35 years. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, Orange County Optometric Society, and California Optometric Association. Dr. Ikeda is proud to provide state of the art care to all his patients, and is certified to perform post-op cataract and refractive surgery evaluations.
Beginning October 1, 2013 Dr. Osamu Ikeda decided to retire and welcome his son, John Ikeda, OD. Dr. Osamu Ikeda is very grateful for his career and wonderful patients and would like to thank everyone for their continuing support.
Dr. Ikeda says he plans to spend more time traveling, hitting the golf ball, and spending time with his grandson.
